⚡️ OVERVIEW:
Today, virtual reality lets us immerse ourselves in vibrant digital spaces with a surprising sense of social presence—the feeling that you’re right there with someone else, no matter where in the world they happen to be. But technology that opens up new possibilities can also be used to cause harm, especially when your virtual identity is segregated from your real identity.
How do we prevent bad behaviors and engender pro-social behaviors in VR? How do we encourage people to trust and respect each other when they remain anonymous?
🥡 KEY TAKEAWAYS:
In this lecture, Jasmine shares the following:
1. How we can build trust systems in a virtual environment?
2. How do social norms of virtual social spaces compare and differ from real-life?
3. What principles we should follow to ensure we are building for the inclusivity and safety of all types of people?

I'm a Product Designer working on Horizon with a passion for integrity. The common thread among all my work has been around empowering people to explore and express themselves freely while staying safe.
Previously, I worked in Instagram on 2020 presidential election integrity, 2021 COVID Information Center to help awareness about vaccines, teen mental well-being, and Horizon integrity. Recently, I've expanded my focus from integrity to working on teen engagement and expression. Outside of work, I love to experiment with making different flavors of ice cream and going surfing whenever I can.
